As we say goodbye to the year 2019, the Team of PhySciRA would like to thank our incredible friends, colleagues, advocates, and supporters for the wonderful and successful journey of implementing the Physics in a Box program in the United States.
We’re proud to share some of the ways we’ve delivered on our promise to help the United States become unstoppable by developing a world-class math and science teaching force, grow future STEM innovators, and bring physics to every kid in America.
2019 Milestones:
• PhySciRA further expanded its reach within Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Florida by adding 14 new schools, more than 400 students, and 45 teachers. Many of these students come from crisis communities, low socio-economic backgrounds, and have limited possibilities and resources. Seeing these kids light up with pride and a renewed attitude of “I can” is priceless!
• The Physics in a Box program proved once again to be successful in various environments. This program can be found implemented in elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, after school programs and even programs for the gifted and talented. It can also be found in private schools, public schools, and charter schools, and diverse environments such as some of the largest and most successful school districts in the country and the smallest school districts in the furthest areas in the mountains.
• New critical programs were added under the Physics in a Box umbrella, becoming the first program in the world to incorporate the best teaching methodologies and practices with the utmost hands-on spectrum across every branch of physics. These new programs consist of; Physics in a Box – Electricity and Magnetism as a teacher demo set, Physics in a Box – Electromagnetic Induction, Motors, and Transformers.
• Conducted over 170 educational presentations and brainstorm meetings all over the United States, building momentum with every level of stakeholders varying from legislators, educators, economic developers, parents, community and business leaders.
A Look Towards the Future:
Our ultimate goal is to implement Physics the way it is taught in Europe and Asia in each school of the United States. We seek to bring elements of physics into elementary school grades, a full three-year program in middle school, and an extensive program in grades 9 and 10 of high school. We are committed to this goal and are gearing toward it.
In the upcoming year, we are moving forward, implementing several more programs that were made possible thanks to our outstanding partners and supporters:
• Seminole County Public Schools of Florida will roll out a Physics in a Bus program to provide physics education to every school within the county, state, and even neighboring states. Thanks to the Seminole County Public Schools leadership team and community support, this incredible dream is coming to reality on January 21st, 2020. Imagine a bus filled with Physics tools and experiments traveling from school to school every day expanding opportunities for thousands of kids and providing on the move training to teachers.
• A legislature bill will be proposed to pilot Physics in a Box program in the State of New Mexico. This has been stated as the Education Program of the Year by Community Economic Lab with a tagline that “Physics in middle school is a prerequisite of US economic development.”
• An affiliate partner program with the Colorado State University that will secure a significant education benefits package for the teachers involved in Physics in a Box program.
We are grateful to you all for continuing working with us. We especially would like to thank teachers who have embarked into the program fearlessly, administrators who provided the vision to their schools and adopted the program, advocates speaking spreading constant awareness about this groundbreaking program, and all of our strategic partners and supporters.
Thank you and lets us make the biggest impact together!
